ADE Help please

Hi

I just opened my ADE library on my pc and it appears to have duplicated every book in mydigital editions folder not sure how to rectify this. so instead of 2300 books i now have 4574 in my library and dont know why?

By any chance did you have your Kobo attached when you launced ADE?

If so, ADE has scanned the Kobo and added all books it found on it to it's list of books.

nope and it wont allow me to drag and drop books to my kobo when its attached. I am on vs 1.7.2.1131 i have no idea how to reinstall ADE and what happens to my books when i do. I have a back up of my books but not sure what to do

I suggest finding ADE 2.x and installing that. You eBooks will stay where they are and will work fine with ADE 2.

kobo website says use ade3

have bit the bullet and uninstalled and now installing ade3 and migrating data fingers crossed!

ok bit of a wierd one.

found ADE 2 installed. moved books across to kobo no problem. double clicked on kobo through ADE it instantly had non responding and crashed. ok thought will uninstall and put ADE3 on which is what kobo recommends and same thing happens. can move books across but cant open up kobo. what am i doing wrong. books on reader is it necessary to open up kobo on ade (used to be able to with old version)

Are you opening books downloaded from Kobo via the Touch or the Desktop software? If so, the crashing could be because of those eBooks being kepup and not ePub.

My suggestion is to use Calibre to manage your eBooks. You'll want the Kobo Utilities plugin and the possibly the Kobo Touch Extended Driver. See the threads in the Calibre Plugins forum section for information on these plugins.

No its not the opening of books. When my kobo is attached to pc and ade is open I side load books by dragging. In old version I could click on the devise and it would list the books there. In new versions if I try to click on the device it crashes.

I have always used ade not calibre. Don't have kepubs on the reader I download the ascm and put on ade and then drag to reader

I will admit that with me ADE crashes as well when my Glo is attached; I've often thought it might be due to registration issues of the device. (I've factory reset the Glo many times and just restore the .adobe directory each time).

You could import all the books into calibre and use calibre to manage your Kobo.

calibre will not play these monkey games.

I don't really want to use calibre I think I am gonna have to put up with it to be honest.

You don't evn have to use calibre for anything other than DeDRMing your books -- afterwards you can manage your library yourself using the file browser.

But I recommend giving calibre a try -- you might come to like it.

(Clearly you must be subconsciously desiring that outcome
