Recommend fw version ?

Hello, i'm a newbie to kindle and just jailbreaked my PW2, and followed the wonderful sticky thread to install all the thingy it needs.

question: should I stay using fw 5.4.3 or I should update to any other newer recommended fw ? or the newest one ?

It depends what you actually want to do with your Kindle. Personally I like to read on mine, and the current 5.6.x firmware offers many benefits for that, such as cloud collections and enhanced search capabilities. But if your main interest is "hacking" your Kindle you may wish to stick with an older firmware version.

so it means its ok even i updated to 5.6.1 as my kindle already jailbroken ?

Personally, I'm staying with 5.4.5 as you can downgrade if needed. Keep in mind that 5.6.1 is a one way ticket at the moment and possibly forever (unless you're willing to hack the serial port etc.).

That is a good point -
My recommendation:
Avoid the 5.6.x series of firmware for as long as you can.

You can always upgrade to that version in the future, if it offers something you simply **must have**, until then keep your options open by avoiding it.

You can downgrade using a jailbroken Kindle and an ssh-enabled diags partition. What is this about the serial port, it seems a rather circuitous way of running commands (dd) from the diags partition (but if you really want to, feel free)?
