Unfortunately Amazon does their own licensing. I don't even know how it works.
I checked on Amazon's forum and found a thread about this error. Take a look at the thread here, and in particular at the second post. |

On a non amazon tablet, the apps bought from amazon rely on the amazon store app to "phone home" for them and check licences. so e.g. your apps bought from amazon will stop working if you remove the amazon store app, or if you are offline for a long time ( not sure how long).
As you are using a Kindle fire, it's simpler, you normally just need to have wifi active for when the device decides to check licences - that.s normally when the app is launched, but not all apps require a check for every launch. if you drag down from top of KF screen to access settings, you then have a sync option - tap that to force a sync of "everything" , with wifi active, and you shoudl be good to go. I did READ your post , and I covered all options so as to help others.
You can go help yourself if that is your best attitude. I can think of 3 other easy tests/fixes but I will stay out now |

If you read you would not be asking what device I am using. Since I stated that in the original post.

I wrote "as you are using a kindle fire...".
That is a statement, not a question. This is also a statement , my last : If you can't be polite, don't ask for help. |

You edited your original comment several times and once ask if I was using a Kindle.
If you cannot read the full comment without asking a question then maybe you do not need to be offering advice. |

Another possibility would be to uninstall and reinstall CC. It could be that something has become corrupt in the install and Amazon is detecting it as a piracy attempt.
Do this as a last resort because the uninstall will clear CC's library. If you have a lot of books in CC, that is a pain. Also be sure to backup CC's settings before uninstalling, preventing the need to remember everything you changed. |

I have had to reset my Kindle several times. After the first time I created a specific library in Calibre so I know which books to add back.
Who knows maybe Amazon is just making problems for users and developers. |

OK - I'll leave you with all these other folks who are queuing up to get insulted for trying to help you. you could of course press the MAYDAY button - that's what it is there for - but maybe that's too technical for you ![]() |

If my Kindle Fire had the Mayday button I would of pressed it. Since it does not have that button I can not press it. Of course since you are a know-it-all you ASS-U-MEd something that is not real. Not surprising about that.

so Ky, how's it going with the help from other readers ....
gosh, no one wants to chip in & get an earful - what a surprise. I WILL tell you, gratis, that your error message is generated by amazon, and not by calibre companion. & that same message is generated whenever an amazon tablet cannot phone home to validate an app licence, for whatever reason. so take your issue & your temper off to the nearest amazon forum perhaps some kind + thick skinned person there will help you unf**k your device, as you clearly can't. this really is my last post in this thread so feel free to have the last word before you leave. try to lay off the caps lock key though, there's a good chap yknow, your attitude reminds me of this scene from pretty woman: Edward Lewis: You can't charge me for directions! Vivian: I can do anything I want to baby, I ain't lost. Last edited by cybmole; 02-27-2015 at 01:32 PM. |
