Problems with syncing after changing affiliate

Hi! I recently bought a new Kobo Aura and changed the affiliate so as to use the Pocket integration. However, I'm experiencing problems with my Kobo Aura after I changed the affiliate to "KoboIndigo". After I changed the affiliate, the Pocket integration did appear but then when I add in books I got outside of Kobo, they doesn't appear in the ereader and I also keep having problems with syncing. To try to solve this problem, I tried signing out of my Kobo account in the ereader and sign in again. Using this method, the books I added in will appear, but the Pocket integration disappears again.

Does anyone have the same problem? Are there any ways to rectify this problem? Thanks!

I think you accidentally fixed one of the problems. I suspect the sideloaded books not turning up and the syncing was because of a corrupt database on the device. The sign out and back in removed the corrupt database and created a new one.

The sign out and in also regenerated all the system files such as the affiliates file. You will need to change this again to get Pocket back. But, I suggest just "Kobo" for the affiliate.

Thanks for your help davidfor! I tried your suggestion, the books appeared but there's still syncing problem - "something went wrong... please try again."

Or maybe I didn't edit the .conf file properly? I'm using mac and I used TextEdit to change the affiliate.

If you were using Windows, a non-Unix line aware editor can cause problems. But, I would expect a Mac editor to be OK.

The problem is that an error like that could be from several things. Some things to try or look at:
- Can you use the browser OK? Using the browser helps to prove it is not a network issue.
- Restart the device. Occasionally I get a problem with the network and a restart solves it.
- The sync goes through several steps. These are displayed across the top of the home screen. Did you notice what step it was in?
- Have you bought a new book recently? If so, was it a book you downloaded the preview of?
- Are there any "stack_nn.log" files in the .kobo directory? If there is one that matches the time of when the error happened, it might give a hint of what is happening. And I can see if I can supply it to Kobo to look at.

The browser is working fine. By "restart", do you mean performing a basic reset? I tap on "sync", the error message "Something went wrong... Please try again." immediately pops up. I tried syncing using Kobo Desktop as well but it also gives me the error message. I checked, there're no "stack_nn.log" files in the .kobo folder.

Sigh... I think if I still can't fix it, I'll just stick with using Pocket on my mobile. > _ <

By "restart" I mean turn off and on. Hold the power switch in the off position for about five seconds. It will shutdown and display "Powered off" on the screen. Then turn it on.

I seem to remember that some people had this problem with an older firmware. If you are not on the latest firmware, you might consider side loading it, see this thread.

I realised my Aura didn't update to the latest software, it's still at ver 3.1.0.

I'll try sideloading the update. I'll update here again whether it works

One minor edit to this post: I should sideload the firmware 3.12 for Mark 5 hardware right? And should I change the affiliate before sideloading the firmware? Thanks again!

The affiliate does not matter for sideloading. But it does matter for pocket.
