Ebook Bundling Start-up BitLit Signs Wiley

In a deal with Wiley announced today, BitLit, the Vancouver-based print-and-ebook bundling start-up adds nearly 1,000 of the publisher’s technical titles to its offering.

BitLit is a free app that allows readers to download free or highly discounted ebooks if they own the book in print. Readers use the BitLit app to take a picture of their bookshelf (a “shelfie”) to find out which of their print books are eligible for digital bundles. To claim a bundled ebook readers must write their name on the book’s copyright page and snap a photo using the app.

BitLit’s CEO, Peter Hudson said, “Over the past year, BitLit has seen strong user demand for bundling of technical books and we’re happy to be able to meet that demand with the addition of titles from Wiley. We’re excited that Wiley shares the BitLit vision that readers should be able to read what they want, how they want.”
