Password issue

Today I bought a lovely new Kobo Aura H20 to replace my much loved Nook that suffered screen damage at the hands of my clumsy husband.

Said (soon to be painfully murdered) husband has downloaded some gubbins to let me use Coolreader, which I was using on my rooted Nook. He has also password protected the H20 - but what he thought was the password isn't. I can't seem to do a factory reset and I have a lovely brand new ereader that I haven't even read one single page of a book on that is just sitting there.

Is there a way round this or do I have to resign myself to wasting £140 and not having an erader for the next few months? And a dead husband...

Solved the problem - don't enter a password and just press 'enter'. Repeat three times in total and it takes you to a start up screen. I don't recognise the screen so I guess it must be part of what (still hiding down the pub) hubby has loaded.

Have managed to navigate to Kobo start screen - now just have to work out why it's not recognising that I have books on the SD card...

Does the start up screen look like what you can see there? If yes, then I wonder how you were able tp circumvent the password check. I just tried it. if I press enter without inputting the correct password three times in a row, my reader powers off.

Anyway, if it is this menu, you can select (when you see the start up screen) "tools > activate > bouncer > settings.msh > delete PW" in order to get rid of the password check.

Maybe you replaced the wrong entity in this scenario...

I have a very strong suggestion. Do not let your hubby ever touch your H2O. If he ever touches it, let us know when the funeral is.
