The Kobo firmware does not support this. But, the solution is, don't turn it off. Use sleep instead. When it wakes, it is immediately back where you were.

I go weeks between charges on my Aura, and I never power the device off.

I wonder if one powers the device on and off quite often during the day if it actually uses more battery than if one just used sleep, as the device has to access the memory to reload and reload the firmware everytime. Just a thought.

Probably, but how many times you would you need to do it? I would expect that powering off, going and making a cup of coffee and powering on again when you return would use more power than sleep for the same time. And I think it would use more than an hour of sleep. But, I don't know what the break even point would be. Personally, the "instant on" nature of opening the cover and reading makes up for any extra battery usage during sleep.
