Leftover files
What files become orphaned when an eBook is deleted? Where are they located? How can one figure out which files are orphaned and can be deleted?
Thanks. |

The sidecar files get left behind, I think. They will be in subdirectories with the book file name. If you are sure you aren't going to reread the book, you can delete them. They don't take up much room. I wouldn't worry about them.

For me it's less about reclaiming drive space and more about not having to view artifacts in the Kindle's documents folder from ebooks I will never read again. I read more than 100 books a year, and I don't want to pile up dozens and dozens of these directories.

That depends on how much you store and how much the remains take up. Eventually, the remains will eat away at the disk space.

Maybe manage the content on your device with Calibre instead of a plain old file manager?

Does Calibre remove them when the book is removed from the device? I agree that these "sidecar" files can build up quickly and clutter my kindle a lot.
