Availability of KV for International Shipping ??
Hi Everyone,
does anyone know when the KV will be available for international shipping ? I tried to buy it on Amazon.com and it wasn't available for shipping to Australia (where I live). I don't know if I'd go to the trouble of using a US based freight forwarder, although I might if I have to wait 6 months. Any ideas ? Rumours ? Let me know. |

I live in Mexico and they aren't shipping here, yet. I ordered one sent to my sister in Tennessee and she'll bring it to me when she comes to Mexico later this month.

I'm a dual resident of the US and Costa Rica and physically reside in CR most of the time. My Amazon account is in the US and I just bought a Voyage with an Amazon gift certificate I received for Christmas.
I had it shipped to my US address and my son is forwarding to me using a US-based forwarding service. It's fairly inexpensive and under CR law I'm entitled to a customs exemption for packages sent from a private address, but not if sent directly from Amazon. I use this system frequently for Amazon orders when I'm in CR and have never had a problem. I'm not sure why you're reluctant to use a forwarding service. So long as it's a reputable, established company you should have no problems. |

I'm sure the freight forwarding company will work well. I haven't heard about any problems with them. There is the US to OZ website.
I was more worried about two things: (1) - registration process. Where I link the Kindle to my account. I have an account on amazon.fr cause I read french books. (As well as English). It seems to me that other people in Australia have bought Japanese Kindle versions, and I haven't heard anyone complaining. So it will probably be OK. (2) - potentially having to return it. I think there wont be the screen problems that everyone is complaining about because by now things should have calmed down with the manufacturing process. Also, I'm not terribly visual, so I probably wont be sitting there with a giant magnifying glass examining the screen while screaming THE SCREEN GRADIENT IS KILLING ME !!! KILLING ME !!! Then have a psychotic episode. |

The registration process will be fine, any Kindle can be signed into any country account. Although I believe Japanese Kindle 3G's have a problem, in that the 3G only works in Japan for some obscure reason.
Just have it ship as a gift so it doesn't come already signed-in (this will save you approximately 2 seconds during the setup, but hey why not). |

I'll go for the freight forwarder. The KV is available for purchase in Australia but it's _way_ overpriced.
http://www.readershop.com.au/product...ccessories-kit KV with SO for $419 AUD which is $340 USD Too much ! Even though they have free postage within Australia. The 3G that they are charging extra for probably doesn't work in Australia. |

Check out the coverage map: http://client0.cellmaps.com/tabs.html#cellmaps_intl_tab
tl;dr There is 3G coverage in LOTS of places. But the best coverage is in the US, followed by Europe. Australia has 3G coverage all along the coasts and, like, places people actually live ![]() |

Australia Post now offers an Address Forwarding service. They call it Shop Mate.

Does anyone know of ebay sellers who is not selling the ad based version? Many online stores does not mention that for some reason (to trick people?)

Perhaps because the default state of Kindles is to be ad-supported.
![]() I can think of no online store that would be particularly likely to attract people selling the non-ad-supported Kindles. I do not believe anyone is keeping tabs in the sellers either -- though I could be wrong. Based on previous threads, I got the impression that you do not live in the US. If that conclusion is correct, you should be able to get Amazon to remove the ads for free. If I am wrong, sorry. ![]() |

I don't think you can :'( I bought mine in the Philippines for $265 for a no-ad version and I heard they sell KV ad-version for $250. I bought from an unauthorized dealer in my country. I think the extra $45 is already worth it.
