Calibre was working the other day, today I get a python error when it tries to start. Uninstalled/removed program files twice and reinstalled, nothing.

That says something (anti virus?) is blocking your TMP folder.

Have you rebooted?

I've rebooted a couple times. I also just tried disabling my anti-virus and firewall and still got the same message. Left them disabled, rebooted, no avail.

@crystal_lattice - try giving calibre a dedicated "temp' area

Create a directory at root of system drive called something like calibre_temp, then create a user environment variable CALIBRE_TEMP_DIR that points to that directory.

Also see Using the viewer or doing any conversions results in a permission denied error on windows or I am getting a “Permission Denied” error?

Big thanks to everyone. Turns out it was permissions of the temp folder. Don't know why it was changed but it's now working and now I know another place to look in similar situations. Thanks again!
