going to Taiwan?

Maybe? In April, for about a week to 10 days. Still weighing options. First, I imagine I'd fly into Taipei? But sometimes there are better/cheaper airports to fly into?

What should I know? What should I not miss? What should I absolutely miss?

If you spend time in Taipei, make sure you go up building 101 for a) the view from the top and b) the feeling - when you look at the external architecture - that you've somehow been transported to Gotham city.

Cheaper, not likely.

I guess that the Kaohsiung airport is better, especially since one of the Taipei runways is closing for repairs in March. But massive delays are unlikely.

Our younger son lives there. And I'm quite pro-Taiwan, thinking you can't go much wrong.

However, many locals now avoid top attractions -- for example, Sun Moon Lake -- which they feel have been overrun by PRC tour groups. Taiwanese are too polite to criticize littering mainlanders to their face, but they sure don't like it.

You could try looking at a few of the English-language Taiwan blogs and, if desired, posting there.
