Sync/Transfer Speed?

Hi!

My Kobo just died and instead of immediately purchasing a new one, I opted to try the Calibre Companion to help me organize/transfer my books to my phone.

So far it's doing good. My only concern right now is that it's sometimes taking up to 5 minutes (sometimes more) after I press Send to Device before the pop-up that says books are being received in CC to appear.

And it is also taking a looooooong time when I connect my phone as a wireless device. I have 1,400 books on my phone. But I've read here that some even have more than that. I'm just curious if this is standard or there's something wrong with my connection or Calibre itself.

I'm not really bothered by the long wait time, but it'll be nice if things moved a lil' faster.

Any help will be appreciated!!

But I'm really happy with CC right now. I used to use Moon+ to organize my books, but I really like the flexibility of CC.

Regards,
Harold

update: Also, it takes about 10 minutes plus to connect my device and finish syncing (no syncing of book files).

I am 99% sure that the speed problem is in calibre, but without a calibre debug log (not a CC one) I cannot be sure. You can get a calibre debug log by following these instructions in our FAQ.

Are you running the latest version of calibre? There were some fixes in calibre v2.3 and later which made a large difference in performance. In particular, if you are running 2.4 or earlier then you really should upgrade.

Question: did you send me a debug log about duplicated books? If so, could you open another thread so we can discuss it?

Yeah, I sent you a debug log about duplicate books. I'll open a new thread about it.
Here!

And the problem with Calibre seems to have fixed itself. I don't know what happened but it now only takes a few seconds to sync metadata when first connecting as a wireless device.
