my older ebooks have been taken offline
Today I received a message stating that the it is not possible to download one of my 2011 epubs contributed to MobilRead. I checked all my ebook contributions and found that all my older contributions are not available (they are listed as 'off line'. The more recent ones still can be downloaded.
I'm wondering if there is any way to retrieve these older ebooks, or are they now completely unavailable?

These sound like the books that went "offline" because Mobilereads servers moved to the USA and is now following Life + 70 copyright. They won't officially be available until the copyright expires based on the longer term.

I think its not your older books, but all books that do not fit the new 'death + 70 years' copyright rule used by Mobileread.

For example, one of the offline books is 'Williams, Valentine: The Yellow Streak'. According to wikipedia V.Williams died 1946. Following the rule, the book will be available again on Jan 1st. 2017.

I have no idea if there is any way for you to get the book, but anyone else can probably just wait.

Edgar Rice Burroughs: died in 1950, will be available, in 2021.
Astounding Stories Feb. 1931: Desmond W. Hall died in 1992, will be available in 2063 (don't hold your breath).
