Best ebook reader on M96?
Hi all,
I realise there are a bunch of threads recommending e-readers, but none of them gave all the info. Essentially I am looking for a (single or set of) e-readers for the M96. Criteria: - must be navigable by the joystick - ebook sections (for reading RSS feeds in ebook format) should ideally be navigable via the joystick - full screen would be nice (turn off header and footer) - no page-turn animations - support for user provided fonts Of the ones that come out of the box (why did they ship so many?), the closest I have found is OnyxBook. I did check out the others that were installed (OReader, FBReader, Onyx Neo Reader) and all of them seem quite weak in one way or another. For example: - OReader has an excellent TOC for sectioned+article ebooks but it needs the stylus. It also can't style them very well either. - FBReader is just messy. It also crashed a few times - Onyx Neo Reader is quite similar to OnyxBook but for some reason the section and article headings are inverted. For now, I guess I will stick with OnyxBook. If I could add the TOC navigation from OReader, make it joystick friendly and add it to OnyxBook then that would make my day ![]() What do you all use? Thanks! |

Try AlReader, it has a lot of options in the "professional mode settings" (Options->Addon - Settings Complexity: Professional)
The OReader is defacto an older version of the AlReader with small adaptation for the Onyx UI. |

Are you referring to "AlReader - any text book" or "ALReader - Ebook Reader"?

I think it is "AlReader". I tried it and yes, it does have echos of OReader. Unfortunately I think it still has the same flaws as well.
I have seen a few other references to AlReader as well so maybe I am just being too fussy. |

For convenient using of the AlReader you have to change really a lot of options (in the Professional Settings Complexity) and then (maybe) AlReader will satisfies to you. The OReader doesn't have many settings like the AlReader due to UI Onyx adaptations. I strongly recomend to try AlReader not OReader (I've already uninstall it).
If you need better "visual text rendering" which accepts all css tags or pdf support you have to use other ereader. |
