How accurate is Kobo App W8 for previewing epub?

I'm wondering if I'm tearing my hair out for no reason. I formatted my epub and it validates with no issues. If I do the Preview Now feature on Kobo's store, however, it shows the headings mashing up against everything, ignoring my margin settings. I sideloaded the book to look at it on the Kobo Windows 8 app, and now there are extra spaces between the paragraphs and if one whole paragraph can't fit on one side, it leaves a huge gap and starts that paragraph on the next page.... Is this how it will behave on an actual Kobo device?

OK, just saw the Advanced settings icon and turned off Kobo formatting, and it shows mine and all looks good in the app. So it's just the Preview Now that looks like crap. Should I worry about that?

Remember; there are two distinct renderers on Kobo devices; one for standard ePubs, the other for Kobo format ePubs. The two engines are based on different code bases and have different defaults. ePub support is based on Adobe's RMSDK; Kobo ePub on NetFront's ACCESS engine.

I believe that any of the PC Kobo applications ONLY use ACCESS.

Have you looked at https://github.com/kobolabs/epub-spec ?
