Unhappy Need help to open purchased ACTFL materials

I recently purchased downloadable materials from ACTFL and downloaded Calibre on my desktop w. Windows 7 in order to access them. After downloading the materials, I could not open the files. If I cannot open them on my desktop, is there anyway I can transfer the files to my Sony tablet? I only have 72 hours to access them.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

@rstyles - What sort of files are they? And what/where is ACTFL - Australian Capital Territory Football League

If you have an app on the Sony tablet that can handle the file type, maybe you can just copy the files over there via usb.

Am assuming the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages - if so, then books and publications are available in both mobi and epub.

I suspect the problem is DRM, if so then BR you are probably better equipped to answer within forum rules on copy protection or describing registering a device .

I had a quick look at their site and the ebooks do not seem to be drm protected as they specifically mention reading in Calibre.

@rstyles. What are the filenames of the files you have downloaded? How have you tried to read them? Did you actually import them into Calibre and then try to view them? What error messages are you getting?

@AnotherCat - All I know is that removal of DRM cannot be discussed at Mobileread

What I can do is to suggest that the OP search the 'net for Apprentice Alf and get the DeDRM Tools as a calibre plugin - instructions are at that site.

I wondered about that - I think the 72 hours probably refers to the time between getting a download link, probably by email, after ordering/paying and doing the actual download (IMO it's poorly worded - which give what the ACTFL is, is a bit of a worry )

Dot Orgs don't often DRM their publications.

BR -- due to a recent rules change, we can now link straight to http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com
(Still can't discuss them in detail here.)
