how to get Adobe ID now that Readee Store is closed
Just got a new, used PRS-T1. When I click on the Public Library link it says I need to go to the Reader Store and get authorized with an Adobe ID. Since the Reader Store is now closed, how can I get an Adobe ID for my device? Is there a way to do this without connecting to my PC? I also want to avoid updating to the newest firmware because I've read stories of it basically bricking the device.

Welcome to the forums.
You could google for Adobe Digital Editions and down load the reader directly. But beware; there is an an extensive thread somewhere - on the General>Discussion forum I think - in which people express lots of concern about Adobe retrieving information in clear without telling the user. The thread also has information about getting one of the earlier ADE versions which work just as well but don't steal private information. Or if you send me a private email I could send you a copy of the installer for the earlier version. |

http://www.adobe.com/support/digital...downloads.html I presume you're saying to install ADE 2.0.1 and NOT ADE 3.0 ? or is there an earlier version that would be better? |

Well, I found older versions of ADE (1.7 I think) of Reader for PC, and was successful at downloading Kafka On the Shore from my library! One odd thing which I'm sure I'll fgure out, is when clicking the Public Library link, it takes me to Overdrive, and it sure is clunky looking for eBooks at my library. I tried insted going directly to my library's website and searching and donwloading an ePub. Are the Overdrive versions different because I seemed to get different search results between Overdrive and the library website. Odd.
