Can't see new books on Kindle Paperwhite

Hi All

I am hoping someone can help to save my sanity.....

I tried to add some books recently to my kindle through Calibre and realized they are not appearing anymore.

I have tried adding through USB and emailing them to my amazon email to collect wirelessly, neither shows up, yet they appear in Calibre when I open it as being on the device.

They are also in the folder on the device, they are just not appearing so I can read them.

I really want to avoid resetting the device as it took me a while to get all of my books on there in collections.

Can anyone help?

Are you sure that you have your Kindle set to show "everything" rather than just "books"? Sideloaded content often shows up as "Docs" rather than "Books".

Yes I have used all items to see all the items on my kindle.

I just got a free ebook from amazon and it appeared straight away.

You've presumably tried rebooting?

See if something's got stuck indexing. Set the search scope to "All Items" and enter a nonsense search string. If it says "XX items not yet indexed", tap on that text to see what they are. Delete them and re-add.

@columbo1977-

Are you able to see the book when viewing your items in list view? If so, you may have a cover image that your Kindle chokes on (and therefore won't show)...and once it chokes, it won't show any other images being processed afterward (so check for any books that show in list view but not in cover view).

Its a mix, they were all MOBI but I converted some to AZ to see if it was the indexing problem.

Mine are always in list view.

Huh... I agree with @HarryT, really, really sounds like an indexing problem. When you do your search for a nonsense word, check to be certain you have reset the search for 'all items' as this is not the original default setting.

Well now... when you reconverted the offending books, are you saving the original format? If so, are you sure you have Calibre set to send the new converted format as a higher priority? Otherwise Calibre may just be re-sending the same original file.

edit: are you able to read these books in Calibre's viewer? (no DRM issue?)

You're an absolute star, looks like I was sending the same format as I sent them as AZ's and they have appeared. Kindle must have decided not to like MOBI ??
