Read ePub

When I finish reading an ePub and a swipe past the end of the eBook, I end up back at the home screen. Is there some way I can just stay at the last page of the eBook instead of going to the home screen?

When I swipe past the last page in a sideloaded epub the book goes to the Home screen and it is marked as 'read'.

If you want to keep it on the back page then go back into the book and leave it on the page you knew to be the final page prior to the Home screen.

I'm guessing you knew that .... so what are you asking ....

Not swipe?

If the point is to not mark the book as finished, bring up the menu and press the home button.

The point is not to go back to the home page unless I go back to the home page. The point is to be able to swipe at the last page and not go home.

And where would you like it to go? There is no way not to go back to the home screen that I'm aware of and to me that's the logical behaviour that most people would want (OK, some probably would like to go directly to the library) so I don't see it changing any time soon.

I don't want it to go anywhere. I want it to stay in the eBook.

Then don't turn the page.

But, why? What are you really wanting to do?

Stay in the eBook because if I am at home and I have found any error that I've highlighted, then I can just go to the highlights and fix the eBook.

The highlights will still be available to you even if you've finished the book - directly on the device or on the Calibre metadata if you choose to import them.

But every other ePub Reader or app I've used stays at the end of the eBook when I'm done and try to go any further forward. Kobo is the only one that decides I have to go to the home screen when I want to stay in the eBook. I might not know that there isn't anything left to see/read and go one swpue too many and back to the home screen I go. BLAH!

Perhaps then check on Calibre what the last page of the book would look like - and stop at that point on your device.

You can import the annotations/bookmarks into calibre at any time.

I usually delete the book on the last page.

JSWolf wants to simulate Sony's response where it stays on the last page.

I have seen vague references to that on other ereaders and I have no idea why they would do that. It's the same as when reading a paper book: get to the end, close the book as finished and put it back on the shelf.

As a hint, if in "Page x of y" at the bottom of the screen, x=y, then you are at the end of the book

If the point is to handle the annotations, there are a few things you can do:

- On the home screen, the first books hows the number of annotations under it. Pressing that will display the annotations list.

- In the library list, a long press on the book displays a menu. This has "Annotations" on it. Selecting it will display the annotations list.

- Use the Annotations plugin to copy the annotations into your calibre library. Or the "Fetch Annotations" that is built into calibre.

I use each of these depending on what I am doing. I just make sure I highlight enough to find it in the book.

They would do that because you don't always want to exit the book you are in.

And it's possible that there is still one more page even if x=y on screen.

I don't annotate to highlight any specific passages. I annotate to highlight errors in the eBook so I can fix them. Thus, if I am at home when I finish the eBook (I can fix the eBook), I want to stay in so I don't have to go back in to pull up the annotations.
