Difference converting to MOBI on new Kindle

I am having a problem with my MOBI conversion

I am taking an epub created in Sigil and using Calibre to convert to MOBI.

I am viewing on a Gen 3. Kindle and also on a Brand New Kindle (the new basic model). The pics are MUCH smaller on the new model. I thought it was an issue with the new model having higher resolution, but a little research showed me I was wrong and that the old model and the new model have the same resolution.
Any idea what I can be doing wrong in the conversion? Does the new Kindle have some special needs in the Calibre conversion process?
Here is a side/side pic of the two Kindles showing the size issue.
Any help will be much appreciated.

If you are talking about a Kindle Voyage, then yes, it has a much higher resolution that the Kindle Keyboard. And you will need to adjust the output profile in the Page Layout Conversion settings to Kindle Voyage instead of plain Kindle.

Its a simple test to check if the resolution is indeed different, change the output profile to Kindle Voyage and do the conversion and see if it fixes your problem.

Best to set the output profile to tablet and then the images will not be resized.

So, I noticed that the new Kindle E-reader (entry level 49.99 on black friday) can use the AZW3 files as well as the MOBI. When I load both on the new Kindle, the MOBI has the tiny pics, but the AZW3 looks great. I will just do that from now on, but can someone please explain why that is? What is different about the new entry level Kindle and the way it handles MOBI? Old Kindle worked great and showed nice pics with the same MOBI file.

I tried converting to MOBI a few ways.
1) default
2) Voyage
3) Tablet

I also tried leaving the margins as default (5.0) and lowering them to unchanged.
All MOBI files have the shrunken pics.

The only thing that is displaying the way I want in the AZW3 file.

Any other suggestions?

Yes, I do have a suggestion. Use Kindlegen to create a combination Mobi/KF8 eBook. Then using Calibre with the KindleUnpack plugin, split the Mobi/KF8 and try thr resulting Mobi and see how it works.

The MOBI format has various limitations on image filesize/filetype, you are likely running into one of them. Just use AZW3, MOBI is obsolete. Note that creating a joint MOBI probably will not help, as the images in a joint MOBI are common, which means the restrictions from MOBI apply to the AZW3 as well.

Ok, I am going to move forward with the AZW3 as the preferred file type for this device.
The part that is interesting is that the MOBI displays so differently on the older vs newer Kindle devices.
