There has been a long time since last thread. But my T1 is just the same - bricked as normal.
So I write this new thread in short. 1. My T1 is bricked. 2. I did a full charge to my T1. With 1.03 packed TF card in, keeping "home+menu" down and powering on the device is useless. Because -
3. That's it. The amber color won't be twinking until the power is off. And how could I possibly repair my SONY PRS-T1? Any help to my bricked T1 is great, thanks a million! |

You attempted repartition. That's how T1s get bricked. Try hard reset, and search for rwcovery packages. But I think you killed it with repartition.
If you are in N.America you can get a T2 cheap on ebay. But not all T2s can be rooted. See what you can get cheap. |

There is no problem after repartition for a long time. reset+power is hard reset, right? After that, I tried 1.03 or 1.05 recovery packages, the screen is stick as normal, and sd reader indicator is dark, no flashing at all. If there is no hope at all. I will buy a kobo aura HD. Nope, reset+power is not hard reset.
Clink on the following link for a step-by-step guide for hard reset. (I hope it is not aginst the rule to put a link in this thread.) http://t1-reader.ru/en/reference/factory.html Please note that the hard reset will delete all books and information you have on your PRS-T1. Hope the hard reset can solve your problem. |

T1s do just get slow and / or die. I wasn't impressed with the T1.

Hi,
I also have two PRS T1 with different symptom: 1. The first one will not shutdown, but just got freezed on Shutting down screen. Right now I am at the 4th cycle of charging and discharging fully the battery - I read somewehere in the forum this has helped. It connects to computer and the drive is accessible and the content could be written/deleted Becuase of not able to shutdown I am not able to apply fully any package, becuase all of the require shut down, which I can not accomplish and finally just reset the Reader. Otherwise it is fully functional ![]() 2. The other one is stuck on opening book and no progress bar No hard reset possible because bar does not move. Tried SD recovery - package 04 and 05 and some of rupor, Only 04 works, but it happens this way: When I initalize SD rescue the bar do not move and SD light does not blink, but after 30-40 seconds it self resets and the light of the SD starts blinking and the bar start to progress. Then it goes to Updating, after that it gives: Done. Manual reset is required,,,, I use the reset hole and it restarts, but again no bar progress at all.... Very strange for me. ![]() ![]() ![]() As I can judge the both of them are not to be thrown to the garbage, but still they ar not OK. Thanks a lot! |

What I would try on both of these is to first remove every book you have on there, and then try to do a hard reset.
Good luck! |

Hi,
For: 1) I have tried hard reset and it started and as usually it blocks at Shutting down. Then I use reset after half an hour and the device starts and it seems that the hard reset has worked, because the content has changed (only the "factory" books are loaded in memory), but it again can not shut down. Although I have tried this without deleting the books before that. I will try deleting them also to see. 2) I can not access internal memory to delete the books - the progress bar does not start to move and no welcome screen is reached and no device is recognized by the computer (with XP). I am wondering is there a way to start the reader and to load welcome screen from SD only and from there to try perform reset through settings? Thanks for ideas! |

You can use Calibre to remove your books from the device and keep them nice and safe on your computer while you try to save your device.
Your device should reset easier if it's not trying to reload hundreds of books. See if Calibre will recognize your device and then let's go on from there. Remove your books, do a hard reset and see what happens. The latest Sony software is not supported on XP, which is why I would like it if you had access to a more up-to-date operating system. |
