Blackthorne by Lexxie Couper is the 8th in her Heart of Fame series of contemporary rock star erotic romances centred around the members of an Australian band, this one a Sydney-set f/m installment (apparently there are also f/m/m ménage installments also) involving a son who picks up his father's musical mantle and a club-owning businesswoman with her own ties to the band, free courtesy of publisher Samhain and All Romance eBooks as their Christmas Countdown Giveaway selection for December 16th.

This has 4 out of 5 flames on the heat index over at ARE, and customer reviews praise the character development and relationship plot, which apparently involves some 2nd generation angst and grief recovery. We've also previously received the very 1st in series, Love's Rhythm, free from Samhain themselves in December 2013, which apparently this 8th ties back into in a fairly significant way, so if you already have that, you might want to read it first.

Mostly by default, but it's nice to see a little more variety in the locales and backgrounds of characters in stories we typically get stuff set in, and also potentially throughout the series with acknowledgement of peoples' varying orientations (statistically, there should probably be at least 10% f/f and/or m/m for these things, and the f/m/m volume in the series would seem to cover a reasonable portion of the Kinsey scale well enough).
