Amazon's Discounting Timeline
Just curious, has anyone done a general survey of the timeline between Amazon's various Kindle releases and the first discounted pricing of that version? I'm certain they won't be discounting the Voyage anytime soon (at least not before Christmas ) but I'm curious how long it might be before they do.

I cannot say when Amazon might discount the Voyage, but usually the first discounts on the top end model is when Amazon sells refurbished units.

For George R. R. Martin's A Dance with Dragons I had to wait 18-24 months for the price to come down to a reasonable level. Two years after that and the price is now down to a very reasonable $4.99.

You can check out the price history for Amazon books at http://camelcamelcamel.com/ , however they don't track kindle prices.

Generally the discount takes hold about the same time the paperback hits the market.

I don't recall them dropping the prices on any Kindle eink models since the original Kindle, which I think was $399 down to $369 or $359. On occasion they do have some sort of special, like $20 off if you use an Amazon branded credit card, that sort of thing.

Some of the K4 (series) has dropped at least 2 times from the initial release. My second K4NT (both no ads) was acquired during the first drop ( $79 from $109)
I think I have seen that model (with ads) for $49
