I saw this mentioned in another thread, but couldn't find a thread, so ...

I wonder what can Target offer that Amazon does not offer?

About time somebody gave the book club idea a try.
Price is a bit high but it's an interesting model. As long as the 10% discount isn't off the list price; that would only be useful for Hachette titles. ![]() |

Target used to sell Kindles and Sonys. I wonder what eReader they will offer. They currently sell tablets and cell phones but surely they must plan to offer a real eReader?

Department store chain. Slightly more upscale than walmart. Downscale from Macy's and the like. Fashion at low prices.
Popularly known as "tar-zheh boutique". ![]() They had a deal to carry the iRiverHD, once upon a time. They have had special deals with Sony and Kindle at times. They have lots of stores, lots of customers. Many of whom were recently exposed to a massive data hack. ![]() Last edited by fjtorres; 05-28-2014 at 07:51 AM. |

It is the second-largest discount retailer in the United States, Walmart being the largest. - quote from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Target_Corporation
To me Target stores seem to be somewhat more cultured compared to Walmart. Walmart is the most generic, cheap, huge store that everybody loves to hate. Target seems to have certain flair. They carry clothes, household items, toys, electronics, hardware, somewhat limited (when compared with Walmart or typical grocery store) grocery section. I have seen a few brands of e-ink readers sold there. I have purchased Nook Simple Touch there discounted to $50 during 2012 Black Friday sale. EDIT: it took ma a few minutes to prepare my answer and I was beaten to it by 5 people ;-) Last edited by kacir; 05-28-2014 at 08:00 AM. |

Thanks, everyone! Two of the big supermarket chains in the UK (Tesco and Sainsbury's) also have eBook stores.
