Converting not working
I have upgraded to 2.11 and now I can not convert the books. I have done it all like normal, and now it tells me after queuing the jobs, that it is not responding. I end up having to end the process. HELP!

more info
I am on Windows 7. I am trying to convert them from .pdf to .mobi. THe whole calibre says not responding. I highlight them and click bulk convert, then it does its queuing thing, at the moment it is suppose to actually run the conversion part, it just comes up and at the top where it says calibre it says Not responding. I have let it sit for quite a while and it does not start to work by itself so then I have to go to task manager and click to end task. Hope this is enough info.

@tigresswhite - Did you eliminate all the possibilities in the link Kovid posted - TV connected, Roboform, Spybot etc.
Did you try the things suggested in that link - run in safe mode, close all other programs (including those in the tray). If you're using 64bit calibre, then try 32 bit - you can have both installed, and they will use the same databases and settings What version of calibre were you using before you installed 2.11? BR |

@tigresswhite - the most frequent cause of the symptom you are seeing - Not responding - is when Program A is 'interfering' with Program B. In this instance Program B is calibre.
So running in Safe Mode, closing other applications, and ending Tray tasks (the ones that 'live' at the right/bottom end of the taskbar - including those behind the arrow) is aimed at eliminating as many "Program A" candidates as possible. BR |

So if I do 1 book it runs fine. If I do all of them like I have done in the past, it freezes and does the not responding thing.

Conversions are intensive, The computer is just in 'Go away kid, you bother me' mode and can't spare cycles to update the GUI. I see this all the time on my (XP) P4, 800FSB, 2G RAM. Less frequent on my W7 systems (not minimum RAM) Taming your A/V active scan settings can help some (If you scanned the book when you added it to your computer, do you really need to scan it every time it gets touched?) |

@tigresswhite - try this
Set Preferences=>Behaviour->Job Priority to Low Set Preferences=>Miscellaneous->Max. simultaneous conversions/news download jobs to 1 Set Preferences=>Miscellaneous->Limit the max. simultaneous jobs to the available CPU cores to Unchecked BR |
