Kindle Gift Card Questions
Hey folks!

I used to get Amazon Kindle gift cards at Best Buy but for some reason they no longer carry them. I found an Amazon Fire gift card at 7-11 where it says to use on books, movies etc.

Does anyone know if I can use that with the Kindle to strictly buy books? The stores say once bought they can't refund so I don't really want to lose money on it.

Thanks Susan but I didn't want to do that. I wanted to buy the card to not have to use an American credit card. If I had a US credit card I wouldn't need the Kindle gift cards. And those are to shop on Amazon for merchandise not buy books for the Kindle. At least not the way I read it.

Regular Amazon gift cards can be used to buy Kindle books. I used to buy them that way all the time, when the only things I bought at Amazon were books. Amazon make it so hard to avoid using a gift card balance on orders that I finally gave up.

It isn't hard to avoid using the gift card balance for non-kindle purchases. During checkout, just click Change when it displays credit card/gift.card balance, then select your credit card. Done. Of course, for Kindle purchases, it will always use the gift card balance first.

Might it not perhaps be easier to get a pre-paid US credit card? These are readily available on-line and don't involve any credit checks, verification, etc. Just load it with whatever amount of credit you wish in advance, and you're good to go.

The problem with these cards is that there are always fees involved. A fee to issue the card. A fee if the card needs to be replaced. Some charge monthly service fees. You've really got to read all of the fine print.

I gave my nieces Visa Buxx cards a few years ago, and I use them to give them money for the holidays. I believe they cost me $10 each to get the initial cards. This year one of them got compromised. While Visa gave back the amount in question, they did charge me $20 to reissue the card with a new number.

Yep! What Pidgeon said and when I bought the cards at Best Buy I got points and when combined with small purchases made throughout the year, I got a Best Buy Reward certificate so it worked out well for me.

Apparently I can get them at Walgreens and I did see them at 7-11 so I'll go those routes. Hopefully it's not a permanent change at Best Buy.
