I would like to know if the Word Wise function is working only with ebooks bought from Amazon ? Thanks

I had a look at some of the early Word Wise enabled books and it looks like the feature is not hard-coded in the books. Therefore it's quite likely that the Word Wise feature is provided by the Kindle Voyage firmware and is theoretically available for all books but artificially disabled by special metadata entries similar to the text-to-speech feature.

Unless someone figures out what metadata entries control this feature Kindle Voyage users can only use this feature with store-bought books.
