Question Any Tutorials to open a Kobo Aura H2O ?

Hello and sorry for my bad language but english is not my maternal language.

I need to open my Kobo Aura H20 to change the internal Sd-Card(if possible) and make a back up of it.

Are there any tutorials (photos or video) to describe how to remove the bezel without broke something.

Thanks !

Yes.

Only one step is needed.

Step One:

Do not ever for any reason open your H2O Unless you wish to forgo the waterproofness.

Good luck and good reading

Regards

Frenzie has shown a way to back up the internal sd without opening the device. You can find the information here and here. The necessary steps are:
  • telnet into the Kobo device (look in the developer's corner for how to enable telnet)
  • remount everything as read only (on the Kobo device)
  • copy the content of the sd with netcat to your computer.

Frenzie reported that it took 10 to 20 minutes for the 4 GB to transfer. It took me about 5 minutes to transfer the 2 GB from my Touch via usbnet.

As I've commented before, while it's GREAT to back up the device without opening it, how on earth can you RESTORE without opening it?

Also, as many people can attest, a backup is useless without a test recover being done and validated.

Why would'nt you open the device when it is bricked in order to revive it? But before it is bricked there is no need to open it.

tt MIGHT be useless, if you are unlucky. But, you are right! Live is risky.

You might want to check here Kobo H2O: Need SD Image for mementomori's comments on opening up his H2O. The thread is in the Kobo Developer's Corner forum.

Well then honestly its your call. There is a link I think someone mentioned here, in reply to your post. Although unless you bricked it accidently, then its a choice you will have to make when the time comes to cross it. Too much knowledge can be dangerous, at least sometimes. Being prepared cant hurt either.

regards

Because it will void your warranty?

I feel this question quotes me out of context. Warranty seems not to be a concern in this discussion, since the OP is willing to open the device right now. All I am saying is: Don't open the device now, rather keep it waterproof. Don't risk to break some parts while opening or closing it. If you want a disc image, create it without opening the device.
