Kindle PW 2014 vs Kindle PW 2013 G2

Hello everyone. I am considering to buy a Kindle Paperwhite 2014 (released 8/2014 - 4GB) - PW 2014 . I have read some threads in forum and some articles. But theses don't show clearly the differences between Kindle Paperwhite 2014 - 4GB and Kindle Paperwhite 2013 Gen2 (released beginning 2014 - 2GB) - PW 2013.
Through articles, i get some info about PW2014:
- It has more storage: 4GB.
- The screen get warmer, slight yellowist than PW 2013.
- The uneven lighting problem is solved.
- It has more software features : Vocabulary Builder & Kindle Freetime
- It has a litte bit faster processor
And the others technical details is identical to the PW 2013

All the differences is above, isn't it? Please correct and discuss these issues.

... I don't think amazon refreshed paperwhite, so I doubt 2014 is any different than 2013 paperwhite.

The PW2 - 2014 has 4GB and that's the only real difference between PW2 - 2013. The screen is vastly improved over the PW1 - 2012, that said, you might get a warmer toned model or a whiter toned model.

I noticed a difference between each of the 5 PW2s - 2014 with 4GB that I ordered, and each one had a slightly different tone to the lighting. I chose the two whitest ones since that's what I prefer. There are some that are more yellow/warmer in tone.

What about the software? There hasn't any differences?
So it's a little improved about storage from 2GB to 4GB, and it's hard to know what the quality of screen (cooler, warmer, ..) you’re going to get.

That's true, I had to work through three devices to get one good one.

The UI is the same that's been in existence since PW1 and continues on in the Voyage. :-/

The UI may be the same (I didn't have a PW before, just the previous non touch kindles) but the software must be somehow different if it can't use the Active applications. (I think I'm missing a word there, after "Active" ..... brain is not turned on yet today).

They removed the "sandbox" in the Voyage (thereby disabling AC, it appears), but the UI (user interface) is identical, look, feel, etc. Everything looks the same and it's not a major feeling change going from the PWs to the Voyage. Since the question I was answering was in reference to the PWs, I didn't address that info. It's more of a FW than a SW change and only applies to the Voyage.

My brain never turns on until later.

My 2013 PW2 actually looks better than the 2014 I was sent.

2014 has heavy spotlighting, and a yellow hue.

My 2013 has a cooler temperature, and would be perfect if not for a 1 cm light leak along the bottom right edge.

I just now looked at the description of the Paperwhite on the Amazon site. It says it holds thousands of books, but it does not say how many GB of content. This is the same as for the basic kindle and the Voyage. Do you have to wait until you own it to see that it holds 4GB?

All shipping PWs now have 4GB.

Yes unfortunately, it shows by space available in device info. That's why its best to buy a new PW from Amazon rather than a store as the store may not have updated stock.
