Help Please - Kobo Aura H2O Sideloading Problem
I have just purchased a new Kobo Aura H2O and currently own a Kobo Aura.
I went through the intial setup procedures with the H2O. I copied a few books (free epub) to the H2O's SD card, but the reader will not add the books to the library on the device. I tried copying to the main memory and have the same problem, the books will not display in the library on the device. With the regular Aura, I would copy the books, and then when the device was restarted it would rebuild the library adding any new books. I called Kobo tech support and they told me that the only way to copy a book was using Adobe Digital Edition, which I do NOT want to install on my computer. I use calibre for library management on my PC and tried using it to transfer books the the H2O, also with no success. Do I just have a bad device or am I doing something wrong, or has Kobo changed something making direct copying no longer a working method. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance. Is your Kobo hard drive recognised by the USB ? I had an H20 that registered perfectly via wifi but as soon as I connected it to my Pc I got a please format disc error message. It had to be returned.
Does Calibre recognise your internal memory? If it does then you should be able to send books via Calibre, but if it doesn't you could try a factory reset, if that doesn't work then you need to take it back and get it replaced. Kobo tech support.........yeah they told me the same thing about Adobe, turns out I knew more than they did. One guy even asked me why I wanted to use my kobo with a pc ![]() |

This sounds like either the time/date is incorrect on the device OR the database is corrupted.
Double check the time (settings | date and time) and if needs be tap on the various fields to change them. (They are also set correctly when any WiFi sync is done). If that is correct, try recreating the database. This is done by logging out from the Kobo account (settings | Accounts and then selecting Sign Out from the Kobo section). You will need to redo the setup at that time. |

I would go with PeterT's suggestions to start with. But, does the processing screen get displayed when you disconnect? If it doesn't it indicates the device isn't seeing the new books at all. If it is displayed, then it is either a problem with the books or a problem with the database.
