Refreshing book details

A friend of mine has been going through her elibrary and updating/adding covers to quite a few books. After downloading the covers in Calibre, she opens the ebook with an external program and adds the new cover. At times, this has added 600Kbytes+ to the file size. However, Calibre happily shows the file size when the ebook was originally added to the Calibre library. She spent a while searching for an easy method of updating the ebook details and couldn't find one. So she asked me if there was an easy way to update that information. I have to admit I've never been bothered by that issue so didn't know. I checked a bit but seem to have missed how to refresh the book details.

Any advice?

@DNSB - tell your friend to use the Polish Book feature - you can invoke Polish by selecting book(s) and pressing 'p'. It can be added to one or more tool toolbars/menus via Preferences->Toolbars

Check the Update the cover in the book files option

The method outlined maybe doing it the hard way:
Polish or the Modify EPUB PI can refresh the book from within Calibre using the Image and details that you see.

As to the new filesize, Quality Check (PI): Fix filesize will scan your library and update the DB (this value is the Largest VERSION it finds)

Thanks! I just tried those suggestions here so I'm going to pass them along to her. I know having Calibre update the cover is easier but she is also doing quite a bit of editing/cleanup at the same time.

Even if you update the cover using calibre, it will only change the last-modified date, and that will change again, whenever the metadata is edited.
