Personal tag vs Cover

Hello

I use Calibre to convert mobi books into non personal book by removing the personal doc tag, and i send them to my kindle through mail so i they can have a cover..

Here's the thing
If i add a book to my kindle by sending it to my kindle email, i'll get the cover, but the book will be tagged as personal (Even though i removed the PDOC tag in calibre)

If i add a book to my kindle through the usb, I will not get the cover, but the book will not have a personal tag

How can i get both the cover and non-tagged book?

Another Question, How can i make my books in kindle recognized by Goodreads..?

Even though i have some un-tagged books, still the books are not recognized by goodreads..

@bigshot120: You're using Calibre the wrong way, or the you mangled the settings (or the Voyage thumbnail support broke something, which seems unlikely, because that was trivial and confirmed harmless on the PW/PW2 at least).

Which device are you using?

Did you mangle Calibre's settings? Send To Device & the default Kindle/MOBI/AZW3 settings have been handling thumbnails properly for a good while.

About GoodReads, how can i make a book to be recognized By goodreads?
Everytime I click on GoodReads buttons, it starts "searching" until it tells me: The connection has timed out, Tap here to try again"

I have kindle paperwhite, the newest version.
Only books purchased by Amazon get recognized by Goodreads..
I did make a book get recognized by it, dont know how i did it...

Needless to say, I write the right Title/Author of the book.

It is probably searching for the Amazon assigned ASN - not by Author and Title.

And how can i add that?
Or in simple words, connect non-amazon books to goodreads?

I don't use Goodreads, but just checked and my non-Amazon books are recognized by Goodreads. I insert the Amazon ASIN number into the book metadata id's field during my conversion flow in Calibre. I configure the metadata editor to only use Amazon as a search site and then I do 'edit metadata> download only metadata and covers' (alternately you could just go to Amazon, find the kindle edition and cut and paste the ASIN #). Then, using the Quality Check plug in for Calibre, I do a 'Fix > Fix ASIN for Kindle Fire'.
There may be alternate methods but this works for me...good luck!

* fyi- this process can be done to multiple books at the same time.
Also, the important step after you place the ASIN # in the id's field is to do the Fix Asin for Kindle fire.( this embeds the info in the proper location )

GoSharks, Thank you alot for the help.. it did WORK!!!!

but i got two problems:

1- I can't rate, or change the status of the book (Currently Reading, Read, Want to read) but keeps telling me: Request Failed

2- and second, how can I assign ASIN to multiple books at the same time? Don't i need to search for every books ASIN individually, or just i have to download metadate?

I can't help with question 1.
About fixing the books in batch, just hightlight multiple books and then repeat the same process. The downloading of metadata (specifically ASIN #) will be done to all of the highlighted books...it gives you the option to review each book one at a time if you want to see what was found... then do the 'Fix' while all of the books are highlighted. (As you only care about ASIN # from Amazon, be sure to configure the metadata editor to only search Amazon --- it will speed things up).

If you have a lot of books, this can take a while. I added a column in Calibre that I called ASIN (yes/no type) to keep track of the ones I'd done and have gradually worked my way through my library 10-20 at a time as I had time.

You might try posting in the regular Amazon forum or even in Calibre's forum as this really isn't a developer's question...you'll get a lot more eyes on your question.
