Please help!

Hi!
I just purchased an ebook for Kindle from Amazon (I dont have a Kindle, I have a YellowStone, but this particular book was only available in Kindle format so I was hoping to change the format)
I have downloaded Kindle for PC and the ebook is in there. I am trying to add the ebook to Calibre (to change the format), I have tried "Add Book" I have tried dragging it across but nothing works! Can this be done without actually having a Kindle device? I have googled my problem but cant seem to find a solution.

You need to copy the book file from My Kindle Contents in your Documents folder in Windows Explorer.
Make sure the book has actually been downloaded by Kindle 4 PC! (You will be able to read it in the program.) It will also show you files in the cloud, which doesn't help you find your book files.

Google "apprentice alf" and you may learn something about reading the file too.

Most ebooks come with DRM encryption. But we cannot discuss the details here.

I am pretty sure the book has been downloaded by Kindle 4 PC - I can read the book in the program. It still isnt coming up in My Kindle Contents? I have tried to sync and that hasnt worked either?

You are using the desktop version of Kindle for PC, right? The Windows 8/Modern UI/Touch App from the Windows Store works differently and you wouldn't be able to copy the book over.

What do you see in the My Kindle Content-folder? The file would not have the book title as a name, but would be called something like this: B00......._EBOK.azw

I am pretty certain I am using the desktop version - it says it is compatible with Windows XP, Vista etc.
The My Kindle Contents folder has 3 other book in it from 3 or 4 years ago (i am using a work computer so could be from a previous employee) my book is definitely not in there.

well if you can read the book then it is there somewhere. to be 100% cinfident, take the pc off line & check that you can still read the book. IF yes, then it's just a case of finding it- look at the kindle 4 PC settings in case it's now using a different folder location. is that same program showing the older books ok ?

I had a play around with it and changed the folder location and that worked!
BUT... Calibre couldn't convert my ebook

Anyone have any suggestions for converting books locked by DRM?
