QUESTION: Changing the Price [to Free] on Kindle KDP [SOLVED]

I'm attempting to change the price of $0.99 price to a sale of $0.00, which seems to be allowed, as indicated by this quote:

"Adjust the price of your book at any time; click our Help page for details on how to enter pricing information."

However, when I went in to do that, I found that the minimum price allowed is only $0.99.

Can someone guide me through this process, please?

I think you need to be signed up with KDP Select, and then you're allowed some number of days per quarter for promotional (i.e. free) pricing.

Alternatively, if your book is also available at (say) Smashwords, change the price at the outlet to zero, and then report your own book to Amazon as being available cheaper elsewhere. Amazon should then price-match it (even to $0).
