Happily Settled with New Glo
Originally, I wanted a Mini because of the compact size. My indie bookstore didn't have any, and slowly realized the Mini had been discontinued. *Sometimes slowly...*
And then set my sights on an H20... but I saw a Glo at a great price, and bought it instead. (The H20 is still on my wishlist.) I love it! It's a great size, and has front lights! (But you all know that.) Previously, I've used a Kindle keyboard. The Glo has all the features my Kindle didn't: compact, lightweight, touch, and good lighting. I know, I know, I could have found those things in a Kindle, but I wanted to break away from the Big-Wonderful-A to see what the outside world was like. A longtime Calibre user, after scouring everyone's tips here on the forum, I finally got a good Library routine down for my Glo. The only thing I still long for (and know I'm not alone): being able to send a highlight or annotation to Evernote. I bought a matte shield for the screen (Great Shield), and a Mulbess cover stand. I'm so glad I got a Glo! I carry it everywhere, and can't wait to travel with it (soon!). Thank you everyone who posts tips, tricks, questions and answers! You rock. Grats on your new reader. I prefer the Glo over other Kobo readers because it's one of the few that still uses infrared touch and for the front light of course. I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

Actually both the Aura HD and the Aura h2o both have infrared touch as well. I'm pretty sure the Aura is the only Kobo to use capacitive touch.

Both of those have the larger screen though and I don't want to go any bigger than a 6" screen since I carry a reader around with me every time I leave the house.

You're right about that--6 inch readers using infrared are getting pretty rare. I don't believe Kobo is manufacturing the glo anymore. Not sure what the Nook Glowlight uses, but the removal of the SD card and limiting sideloaded content to only 512mb makes it unattractive anyway.

Yeah, Nook isn't an option for me either because of its limitations, but I believe it's infrared. Onyx makes a few lighted readers that I believe are still infrared, and they look pretty decent, but me being in the US, it would probably be pricey to buy one. Which I wouldn't mind if I was certain I'd really like the features on the reader, but until you handle one, it's hard to be certain.

My skin just doesn't play nice with capacitive touch at times. And I also read outdoors a lot in chilly, even icy, weather. So having to have several pairs of special gloves for different weather all season just isn't another expense I'm willing to put up to read when there are other choices.
