Woot! has the Kobo ER430 Slick 4.3" Color Touch-Screen PocketReader with 2GB Storage & microSD Slot (expandable to 32GB) for the dirt-cheap price of $14.99 (computers.woot.com (go to the "computers" tab near the top and click on the link "PC Liquidation")).

I don't know much about it, but I do know that it supports ePub, PDF, and TXT files (not Kindle mobi for some reason. hmmmm. haha). This unit from Woot! right now is apparently not refurbished or whatever, but is brand new.

The average rating from the reviews that I've seen is only about 3 stars. I am not posting this because I think the product is necessarily good, I am posting it because the price is so low--it is 85% of the list price, which is $99.99. Maybe there is someone out there in Mobilereader Land who needs such a reader, but at the cheapest price possible. Well, this seems to be it.

Actually I believe it is; just not quite sure what market it was developed for. See http://www.ebay.ca/itm/PocketReader-...-/171334597655 for the device in packaging that certainly LOOKS like Kobos.

I suppose it's possible, but that packaging shows the brand as Slick who also put out other various generic readers.

Kind of like the Lookbook from Shift3 it also had Kobo badging on the package, but was not a Kobo brand devices. They were "powered by Kobo" as far as book store (& maybe reading app). Also the Sharper Image Literati.

Not made by Kobo. Just accesses the Kobo ebook store. As you can see on the ebay pic, the top left logo says not "Kobo", but "Kobo ebookstore". This thread's in the wrong place.

Looking at SouthernTelecom's site, it appears that the only thing Kobo about their ereader line is that they use a version of the Kobo desktop app (one of the pdf manuals referred to the Border's desktop app) to access the Kobo bookstore. I got a bit of a laugh going to a website and seeing "Borders ebooks" when they've been gone for over 3 years.

So sorry about that! I thought that I had posted it in E-book Readers > Pocketbook. Still not the place that you wanted, but it would have been much closer to the right place than here. The really pathetic thing about it is that I've done it before (although I had caught them and corrected them before the moderator found out). I will double check what forum/thread that I'm posting in before I click on "Submit Reply."

No problem. In fact, I've often done that, too.
