Cleanup Authors
Hi All
Excuse me if this is in the wrong place. I'm trying to cleanup my library and I've found several authors where the value is something like 'Dan - Serial Killer 03 Wells' I would like to use Edit metadata in bulk to change these to the form 'Dan Wells'. I got a suitable filter working so I just need to replace the author with first and last words. Any ideas or do I just have to do it manually? Cheers Niall |

Very Very carefully
![]() BACKUP your ENTIRE LIBRARY as Bulk Metadata edit -S&R is not reversible any other way. 1) There are no 'Something Like's' only EXACTLY''s with/when doing this Code:
Dan - Serial Killer 03 Wells 2) Search: (.+)\s-\s(.+\s\d+\s)(.+) Replace: \1 \3 \2 is discarded and is used as the delimiter term: First (middle) delimiter Last |

Wouldn't it be easier just to select all books by the erroneous author, and then do a manual Bulk Edit and type in the corrected Author name?

Hi All
Thanks to a prompt from theducks, I figured out what what happened. The problem actually lies with author sort where some of the books were filed LN, FN - Title e.g. 'Wells, Dan - Serial Killer 03' After importing (i'm not into fixing on import - YET) so I've got rid of the bit after the - Is there any way of running the set author from author sort on all these files Cheers Niall |

Take a look at the Quality Check plugin.

The Q C PI has a FIX section that will Flip SELECTED book authors.
The PI has a Metadata check that will FIND those with commas, Then select all and FIX those Be wary of other uses of Commas in names and deselect those before the FIX |
