Kindle cover not showing after conversion?

Hi there,

I don't own a kindle, but someone who does tells me that the preview of the cover is not showing on her kindle.
The cover seems to be there and I can see it in the editor. The Epub version is also fine on an e-reader.
Is there something special I need to do for a Kindle and the azw3 format? The file was generated from the Epub.

I looked under Tool/add cover and there are two images there.... a larger image and a smaller one (preview size?).

Any advice?

As an alternative, can I use KindleGen to generate the file, despite mine is an ebook I wish to sell? From the T&C I am not sure whether it is allowed...

UPDATE

Looking at my file (Epub and AZW3 through the Kindle reader) the file looks fine, but I cannot see if the preview is being generated.

One thing I have noticed though, the page numbering is odd... instead of counting the pages it seems to be counting the lines, so my book is made of 3000 "pages" instead of 160.

Have I done something daft at conversion level? The problem seems to be with the Epub I used to generate the AZW3 file because even using KindleGen to create the Kindle veriosn (from Epub) the page numbering doesn't change.

I have no idea about the page numbering thing.

Regarding the cover being missing... I assume the cover is properly set in the OPF? (Check with the Set Semantics tool, or use Polish books to forcibly add the cover if necessary.)

I only have a Kindle Touch, but I have heard here on MR that newer Kindles have issues displaying the covers for Personal Documents, or covers of certain sizes.

One thing that has worked for some people (???) is to use the Quality Check plugin to
Check Mobi ==> Check missing ASIN identifier
select all results
Fix ==> Fix ASIN for Kindle Fire.

For some reason, newer devices don't like files without an ASIN.
