Free Kindle War and Peace Inner Sanctum edition
Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace in the Maude translation in what is called the Inner Sanctum edition is currently free from Amazon US.

I can't tell you from personal experience why this particular edition stands out as I've only just downloaded it myself. Others have praised the physical edition in reviews scattered across Amazon's site.

I do see an obvious hardcover scan of Napoleon's advance and retreat routes. The table of contents lists some other maps and character lists. The edition appears to be an electronic version of this 1942 hardcover.

There's also an excerpt from a book called Give War and Peace a Chance: Tolstoyan Wisdom for Troubled Times.

Feel free to amend this posting with other participating booksellers.

But is it the Maude translation? The copy I posted a link for (also at Kobo) is identified as the Maude translation. I don't know if either is superior to the other though.

Ah ok. I missed that earlier. The text is so small and the contrast between the text and the background (gold on red) doesn't help.
