Free (Kindle/iTunes/ePub) A Kiss for Rabbi Gabrielle [Jewish Investigative Mystery]

A Kiss for Rabbi Gabrielle by Roger Herst is the 2nd in his series of Washington, D.C.-set Jewish investigative mysteries starring the eponymous female rabbi trying to navigate a male-dominated profession as well as the occasionally conflicting secular and spiritual portions of her world while also solving crime, free courtesy of publisher Diversion Books.

I have no idea if this is supposed to be as "inspirational" in terms of Jewishness as books from the Christian-specialty imprints often are for that religion, but Herst himself happens to be a Reform Rabbi with a history degree according to his bio-blurb, so presumably the clergyperson experiences will be portrayed quite accurately.

(The first book in this series was originally hardcovered in 1998 under the title of A Woman of the Cloth by Schreiber/Shengold Publishing who are a long-term specialty Jewish-interest publisher, according to the National Book Network.)

Apparently there are also non-murder investigative mysteries in this series, which I must say is somewhat refreshing amidst the usual escalating body count in the subgenre.

Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians and in the UK), iTunes & Google Play (both available to Canadians). This will probably also show up @ B&N (probably also UK) and possibly Kobo at some point (linked for your price-drop-check convenience).

The 1st book was also offered free in multiple stores for a while last month, but expired recently. However, if you happened to miss it, Rabbi Gabrielle's Scandal can still be gotten @ B&N (also UK), until they update their listings (be sure to check your receipts afterwards, just in case).

Description
Rabbi Gabrielle succeeds the senior rabbi a Congregation Ohav Shalom and in this new role must perform a funeral for her favorite Bar Mitzvah boy, now a young man recently murdered in a remote Washington DC park. This death brings her to a ghetto high school where the victim coached its struggling tennis team.

An avid tennis player herself, Gabrielle attempts to keep the tennis team going and, because the police are unable to apprehend the murderer, investigates the crime. This brings her into conflict with Washington's thriving gun trade. Pursuit of the killer thrusts Gabrielle into the nation's spotlight, exactly where she doesn't want to be.

Thanks for tip. The first book was still free (just now, anyway) at B&N.
