Delphi Classics Sale?

I don't know if Delphi Classics are on sale or if some of the books (or all?) are usually this cheap. Here is the Kobo Aus link, but don't worry if you're logged into another Kobo country the link should open in whatever country you're logged into.

Here's a sample of titles/prices:
Complete Works of Marcel Proust (Illustrated) AUD3.16
Complete Works of Anton Chekhov (Illustrated) $3.16
Complete Works of George Orwell (Illustrated) $4.21
Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Illustrated) 3.16
etc etc

Each of these books is discountable. See the Discounts thread for the codes.

Amazon Aus also has them, and for similar prices. So Amazon in your country may also.

I think they are usually around $9 something though I could be wrong.

Those are regular prices for Delphi Classics. You can also get them, DRM-free, directly from the publisher: http://www.delphiclassics.com/

The various books sell for between $2.99 - $3.99.

Sales almost always are available for their titles.

Using coupons from Kobo, one can get most of them for about $1.49 or so.

I enjoy these and have about 20 of them, and I've never paid full price!

Odd. Maybe they have gone down in price since I saw them. Or the place I saw them had them priced higher for some reason. It has been a few yrs I think.

I became aware of them about 2 or 2 1/2 years ago. Before that time, I was only aware of the MobileReference series [no relation to Mobileread].

The Delphi Classic series is so much better than that other one: Better formatting, better everything.

The company itself has been highly criticized for a past incident of screwing up member's accounts and losing important data, etc.

I've got some of the mobilereference books I think. They billed it as the "Ultimate Classic Library" over at Mobipocket. Of course their collections were (I think) not quite complete for any given author. Hard to know that prior to purchasing the books though and they were the only kindle format ebook seller I knew at the time. I also didn't know of Calibre back then (if it had even been started).

The issue of 'compete' is problematic at best, due to copyright issues in various countries.

Delphi classics, because of this, sometimes has to offer different editions based upon these copyright issues.

About the formatting: I find that so many of Mobilereference's editions do not use typographer's quotes, but resorts to using to straight lines, such as this: "

They have been that price here in NZ for as long as I can recall, so a very good buy in my opinion.

I have all the ones I want now, often bought with 90% vouchers from Kobo which makes them almost free . I am in the sad position of having yet another 90% voucher turn up and I again cannot think of any more that I need .

There are a few on sale: http://www.delphiclassics.com

I grabbed the E.F Benson for his Short Stories. If you enjoyed Downtown Abbey you may enjoy the Mapp and Lucia Series which satires the same type of people.
