Some questions
hello,
I got two questions: 1) Is it normal that I still dont have the update yet? How can I force it? 2)I order my books like this: [Image exceeds posting guidelines - MODERATOR] its pretty great that I can go to collections and see the series name or if its a solo just the authors name. But in a series collection the books are just random. is it possible to sort it by booknumber in the serie? Hope this made sense. Greetings Last edited by Dr. Drib; 08-28-2014 at 05:39 PM. |

A common technique is to make use of a "metadata plugboard" to alter the title of a book to add-in additional info. I for instance have the following plugboard in effect
Code:
Format: epub Device: KOBOTOUCH <-- This is related to the DRIVER being used; KOBOTOUCH is the basic driver; KOBOTOUCHEXTENDED is for the Kobo Touch Extended (ie the driver that changes a book to kepub format) Source Template: {series:re(([^\s])[^\s]+(\s|$),\1)}{series_index:0>2s| - | - }{title} Destination Field: title This has the effect of (for instance) changing Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, book 1 in the Harry Potter series to HP - 01 - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Additionally, a book NOT in a series is left as is. This means that books when sorted by title on the Kobo appear in series order. I also add "series" to the shelf definition field in the driver. Conversely, if you just want the book number but NOT the series in the title, then set the template to Code:
{series_index:0>2s|| - }{title} |

Oh and I forgot to add that the last we heard was that the 3.5.0 rollout had been suspended; not sure why.

But we do know that there is a version 3.7.0 firmware and that the H2O's being shown have it installed. The Kobo firmware thread has a link to the 3.7.0 firmware.

But... as has been said there, 3.7.0 has ONLY been seen for the "dahlia", not for ANY other device; no rollout of ANY release newer than 3.5.0 was done to any of the external testers. It is more than likely that 3.7.0 was released solely for the H2O for use by those few publications who have review versions of the h/w.

3.3 is the most current firmware for your Aura HD until they start pushing 3.5 again (or something newer). 3.5 rollout is currently suspended.
If you want to "force" it you can follow the download links in the developer forum above. It is basically a drag and drop process, so not difficult. |

Changing the device affiliate to BestBuyCA will get you the new firmware on sync too.

Thanks guys, I'll just wait for a new push. Considering the "metadata plugboard", will it change it on my pc library or just the books pushed to the kobo? I don't really want to change the title in my calibre library, just the ones on the kobo.

The metadata plugboard only changes the copy of the book put onto the device. The one in your library is untouched.

Also the plugboard is only used when a book is sent to the device,

Since you guys are so fast at responding here is another question. I have in the past deleted some books using explorer and replaced some. Now i have in my library lots of empty maps (author name or series name without any books). What is the easiest way to delete those since deleting on my device goes soooo slow one by one.

You can do it from calibre. These books should show in the device list with something like "FILE MISSING" added to the start of the title. You can select these and delete them in one go.
But, what firmware are you running? The recent firmware should remove the book from the database when the file is removed. |
