i saw some of your new baby cousins today on the canal !! they're adorable !! here are some photos :

They are pretty freakin' cute! Maybe when they're a little older, I can fly in and say "Bonjour!" (or something else in High School French).

BTW, how does one say "Quack" in French (I missed class that day)?

they are so cute i started involuntarily giggling while i was watching them. people were lined up along the sides of the canal and on the bridge, watching them, feeding them, taking photos of them...

i must say though, they're an anarchist little lot... whatever happened to the ducklings all swimming in a row after the mama duck ?? these guys were all over the place !!

Parenting is soo hard these days. Young ones just don't listen or follow instructions, they just want to do their own thing.

What were the bystanders feeding them? Bread is traditional in the UK but it's not supposed to be good for them.

to be honest i'm not sure what they were feeding them, but probably bread... why is it not good for them ? because ducks don't naturally eat bread ? (sincere question, i'm not being facetious) they were mostly eating the plants that were growing on the side of the canal, and algae and similar (in the photo where there is a whole... gang ? of ducklings (what do you call of group of them ???) at the edge of the water, that is what they were doing).

I'm not sure - I've heard various tales about it swelling up inside ducklings, or the ingrdients being harmful.

One council has tried to discourage bread feeding:
