Amazon Highlights issue

According to the Amazon help pages whispersync is supposed to back up highlights among other things. Even of Personal documents, according to this page

We are then supposed to be able to view them on this page

https://kindle.amazon.com/your_highlights

It doesn't work for me for personal documents. Does anyone know if it does or is the help page at Amazon incorrect.

As usual I can't get any answer from Amazon.

This is my second, should work but it doesn't issue with them I'm bring to think the techies can't keep the program's running properly anymore

From my experience:
- highlights from personal documents (those uploaded via email/cloud, not via USB cable) are synced between kindle devices and apps (with exception of kindle for PC)
- "your highlights" contains only ebooks from Kindle Store.

Thanks for your comment. My personal doc is sync'd with the cloud.

Does this mean I can only see my highlights by working through the notes section on my Paperwhite or the kindle app on my ipad, not on any web page?

I'm only asking as I've highlighted quite long sections and the Notes list on my Paperwhite only shows the first three lines unless I go back to the page i highlighted. I was hoping just to get a list of them which all the words I highlighted.

Hi, I'm from Germany and all my kindles are registered to my german account since 2011. Before I had my K3 3G registered on the Amazon.com account with German address and credit card (that is/was possible until the german store sold kindles).

Now the funny thing is when I click your link to go to the kindle highlights I see all my highlights (because I still have a registered US account but no kindle registered there!). AND the highlights are recent highlights up to today!

AND what is funny about it. This feature is not available in the Amazon.de, German account! But then does the NSA have my highlights as well?

I've seen highlights for Amazon books on that page but not personal documents and my Account has never been registered with Amazon.com.

The kindle.amazon.com web address seems to be generic for all Kindle users regardless of country.

I just wish someone at Amazon could give a straight answer, they have this functionality but it's impossible to find anyone who understands it.

That whole site seems like a half-finished product that Amazon has never even fully advertised. A while ago I read rumors (I think somewhere on this forum) on Amazon giving up on it in favor of the newly acquired Goodreads. But the Goodreads integration is also far from functional.

Regarding highlights, my experience with it is similar to yours. The highlights from personal docs don't show up there. Interesting to hear that a German account behaves differently. I will play around with my mothers Italian account and test how that works.

On e-ink Kindles, your "My Clippings" file will have the complete text of all notes, highlights, and a note of all your bookmarks. It is a .txt file, so you can copy it to your pc, and copy and paste it to a Word doc or whatever.

Thanks for confiming that i'm not mad, a lot of things seem to be slipping at Amazon. Hopefully its not a trend
