NST w/ Glowlight v. 1.1.5 better?

I don't know what the difference is, but I've got a "new" NST Glowlight ($20 at a pawn shop, couldn't resist) and the screen and font seem better than the other one I tried. I notice that the first one was using firmware version 1.2.1 and this one is at 1.1.5. Does anyone know if B&N messed up the fonts with the newer releases? At this point I'm turning off the WiFi unless I specifically want to download a book, because I don't want it to upgrade -- but I'm wondering if I'm being paranoid?

I went ahead an upgraded to 1.2.1 -- couldn't change line spacing on some side-loaded ePubs with version 1.1.5, but they worked well with 1.2.1 (on my Nook Simple Touch). The upgrade fixed line space issue on the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight. The quality of the fonts and screen seems identical to firmware 1.1.5, so I was just being paranoid. This Nook Simple Touch w/ Glowlight is becoming my favorite reader.

Good to know. I don't yet have a front-lit ereader and I'm tending more toward the Glo than the PaperWhite.

Having owned or trialed almost every main-brand ereader out there, I can happily say the NST w/Glowlight is by far my favourite. I have 2 myself, ones a spare as I couldnt stand to be without it should anything happen to my main one, and I have bought 6 for various family and friends. I am not a fan of the Paperwhite and can be positively scornful of all Kobo's. Sony's I can take or leave, not that theres much there to choose from now anyway.
Its hard to choose, isnt it? When you read reviews online you get so many conflicting opinions. I've read some scathing reviews of my Nook, but I've also read just as many, if not more, positive reviews. And the same goes for the Kindles and Kobo's etc.
If your friends have ereaders, I would suggest you ask if you can have a play with theirs. If they wont let you take it home, even just using it for an hour or so should give you an idea if its the right ereader for you. Or if you can go into stores that sell them, do so and take your time checking out all the features. Ask to be somewhere dark to check the lighting properly. Even just covering the ereader with a jacket or something is better than nothing.
Good luck with your decision making

The only people I know who have ereaders are the ones for whom I actually gifted them with one - LOL. I'm surrounded by technophobes. It's been the bane of my existence because no one shares my joy in my new toys.

I think my NST w/Glowlight is my favorite also -- but not "by far." I like the others also. Right now I'm reading a few library books on my Kindle Touch with the added Constantia font and lighted case. It's not bad at all -- though I do find holding the Nook Simple Touch is more comfortable for long reading stints.
