kobo aura or kobo aura HD

Hi all. I am in the market for a new ereader. I currently have the nook simple touch and though it is nice I would like to have one with a backlight. It would seem that kobo has the best light so I decided on one of the two aura devices. I really can not decide which one I want. I read a lot of pdf files on my nst and I have to zoom a bit so the idea of the larger screen on the HD is nice, but from what I hear the flat screen and new options of the aura are really good too. Does anyone have both? If so can you tell me which one you like better.

Also, do any stores actually carry these? It would be great to hold both before I pull the trigger. Also, does kobo have a return policy? I could not find anything on their web store about returns.

Thanks in advance.

If you decide to get an Aura HD then it would probably be a smart decision to wait until the H2O comes out.

I have both, and I prefer the screen of the Aura HD. The Aura is an attractive device, but there is an extra layer on the screen, which makes the text less sharp. I would choose the HD, unless I required a more portable device.

You can get the HD on sale now for $150, which is awesome. Or you can wait til October and get the Aura H20.

Best chance of seeing one - Canada.

Thanks for the info. I think I will order the hd as I am not too worried about the water.

The HD is a very nice device & I'd guess you'll be quite happy with it. (FYI, the H2O does have the "new" Carta screen, so it's not just about the water).

If you like nook simple touch: Why not check out the one with Light? Or the new Nook GlowLight?
I've got the 3 lighted ones: Paperwhite 2, GlowLight and Aura HD.
I'm using Aura HD the least, simply because of its ugly design. But that's just a matter of taste.
Regarding light or whiteness of the screen, there aren't huge differences. I slightly prefer GlowLight, Aura HD and Paperwhite 2 seem to be about the same for me re. light.

In my opinion, mgmueller is absolutely right about the look of the Aura HD: It's a matter of taste.

I consider the Aura HD to be a beautiful device. I use it almost exclusively.

I don't think the new Nook GlowLight would be a good fit for spinixguy. He said that he reads a lot of PDFs, so I'm assuming these are coming from a different source than B&N. Since B&N removed the SD card slot and limits the memory for non B&N material to 0.5GB, spinixguy would probably run into the storage issue quickly. The older GlowLight that still had a SD card slot might be an option.

I also agree with Dr. Drib regarding the Aura HD--I love mine and don't find it ugly at all. I did find the case slippery to hold on to, but have since purchased an after-market sleep cover for it and it works perfectly. Even though it's bigger, it's the device I seem to grab most often when heading out the door.
