PDF cover and metadata

Hello there,
I noticed calibre has the option to fetch metadata and covers for pdfs. Now to save these to the actual file seems to be a hassle. Exporting does *not* work. It still shows the old cover. For epub this seems to be fixed by converting from epub to epub. However if you go from pdf to pdf he makes a stop at html which means it yields godawful results. Am I supposed to add all covers manually? Surely there are easier ways ?

@SirYeen - PDF 'books' don't have a designated cover as such, whatever is the first page of the pdf is the cover.

You can use the Embed Metadata tool to embed the metadata into a PDF. I will note that I've had mixed results with this, however I've been able overcome any glitches by clearing the existing metadata from the PDF with Trackers XChange Viewer and re-doing the Embed Metadata.

To add/change the cover I think you'll need to use some sort of PDF editor. I've done it with Tracker's xChange Viewer - by pasting an image at the front of the book from the clipboard.

Thanks for the quick response. I figured but thought there would be some way for calibre to put the image in the front. I'll just use the preview viewer that comes with mavericks I guess. Thanks again!
