Maximize Image
Is there a way to automatically maximize all cover images on the upper right hand side of Calibre?

There is also the cover browser (the black arrow). There is another settin that allows this to be detached from the main GUI (and possibly, displayed on a second monitor). That can be resized if you have room. The 'I' key brings up book info which is larger than the details pane. That has Next/Previous (book) buttons |

You can resize the Book Details panel by moving the splitter control - see attachment BR |

Have you looked at the aspect ratio of the images? Near as I can tell from your attached samples and looking at how images are displayed on my computer, the image is resized to fit the window but the aspect ratio is maintained. That is a 600x800 (3x4) image would fill the box but a 400x800 (2x4) image would fit the vertical but the horizontal would be about 67% of the width of the window. Similarly a 600x600 image would fill the width but not the height.

Another thing to try when you see the Geometry numbers seem to disagree with what you see.
In the metadata editor (cover section): Trim borders The image may have whitespace included |
