Kobo Pocket Reader - Highlighting Issue

I got the kobo touch off of a friend recently as I'm thinking of buying one.The pocket function is what I'm interested in.

I noticed that after setting it up I couldn't highlight some text that I wanted to.

Is this a problem with the kobo touch or a problem with kobo in general?

It depends on the type of book. You can't mark text in a PDF, but you can in most other types. You can mark text in a Pocket article, but you can't save it as a bookmark or annotation.
