Question about searching

For example: If I start to drill down through the grouping and go to title, and then select and hold the "M" it asks me how do I want to match the books. If I say "Matching" it instantly goes back to the top level and says it found 364 books and the search shows "title:~^M" If I change the "M" to an "R", it scans through the books one at a time looking for matches and takes about 20 seconds to find the matching books.

Are you doing something different in the search that matches so quickly or am I doing something wrong in the searching syntax. Because if there really is no way to do a manual search that take less time on large libraries, it might be worth adding an option to disable all of the searching and the search box. Frankly, it might even be worth making that the default to cut down on confusion for new users.

Long presses use the database. This is possible because the query is completely understood by CC and there are built-in query methods to process it. Queries typed into the search box do a linear search because CC doesn't parse the query to determine whether or not it could be executed using the database. Such a parse is a hard problem, not worth our time.

Not going to do this. There are times where the best way to find a book is to use the search, even if it takes some time, especially for compound queries. Most people do not have 4,000-book libraries so the time required isn't exorbitant.
